Hi I’ve been thinking about getting into the tattooing industry for a while now and would like to get an apprenticeship in about a years time so I’m going to put together a portfolio of work. I just wondered if any of you could give me any advice on what materials to use (pencil drawings, paints, pens etc.?), how many pieces I should do, and so on. Any advice is appreciated smile

Why would you want to become a tattoo artist? To answer your question, the more the better… trace, trace, trace, Draw, draw, draw, then draw some more till your hands cramp, then do it more, then learn to scrub tubes and go get lunch for everyone in the shop. Seriously, put random ideas into a hat pick two or three out and work them in together. Customers come up with the strangest ideas these days. If that’s not your idea of fun, run, run away, run fast. wink Good luck, you’ve got a long road ahead of you. Oh yea, master drawing perfectly straight parallel lines in every direction, then curved lines right next to each other in all directions, then perfect circles of all sizes, can you do this with a vibrating weight on your hand? Long road…
