Hello.
My Uncle has recently passed away, He was very heavily tattooed, He told me that all his Tattoo’s were done by Rich Mingins.
He said that He was a very respected Artist in his time.
Most of my Uncles Tattoo’s were done in the late 50’s early 60’s when Rich had a studio in Harlesden North London.
Although they were quite old, you could see that they were very good, and must have looked great years ago when the lines were sharper.
The big question is, can anyone tell me anything about Rich Mingins?
Thanks.

Bob Eagle Smith [Oxford/Swindon]
Donald Campbell [swindon]
Steve Turner [swindon]
Bob Taylor [Gloucester]
Bob Moore [Cheltenham]
Paul O,conner[Weymouth]
Brian Eagle [Trowbridge]
Dougie Bull [swindon]
All these Tattoos were done in the eighties and early nineties, Some have stood the test of time others not. What about you guys.

Hi, I know Ben Gunn passed away quite a while ago but I am looking for any London tattooists who trained under him or any studio that may have any of his artwork. i am trying to track down certain pieces that my late father had done by Gunn in the 60’s that I would like to have done as a tribute. I heard that his daughter carried on the business and that there was an artist in Walthamstow that was tutored by Ben. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Hi,

Im currently serving in the Royal Marines and am doing a lecture on the history of tattooing and need to put some military references in there. Specifically Im on the look out for any stories relating to tattoos used by the military or any stories relating to Royal Marines getting tattooed. Stuff like guys getting their Service Number and Blood group tattooed before the Falklands war, tattoos used to mark deserters in the early part of the 20th Century and even any stories of tattoos done by servicemen whilst at sea in the Navy would be a great help.

And in case anyone was wondering, I have been tattooed 6 times and am just waiting for the inspiration for my next one!!

Many thanks,

It’s with much sadness that I have to let you know that Ian Frost of Croydon passed away on the morning of saturday 22 may after his battle against cancer. He will be missed by all those who knew him and had met him over the years, Always a friendly smile and not a bad word about anyone he kept himself busy doing what he loved most ....tattooing and tinkering with new ideas for his rotary machines,I had the great honour of working alongside him for the best part of 9 years when I started out,and learnt so much more than just tattooing from him.Another old timer gone along with all the stories of our past I will cherish them with pride and pass them on.

> I’ve been looking for an apprenticeship for quite some time, and am willing to go the lengths to achieve my goal, and work from the bottom doing whatever it takes.
> I live in the midlands, but I’m prepared to move around because this is my passion and my aspiration. I am determined, and hardworking, and will go the length to fufill my duties. I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, and mainly my speciality is linework, and shading in traditional art. I’m quite good with abstract work, and I’m creative when it comes to ideas. I work great with people, and I know that alot of tattoo art comes with meaning, and memory for lots of things, and I can empathise and work with all sorts of people, helping them decide on a design. The idea of trying different styles, different types of art, different genres and so in, appeals so much to me. And the idea of helping people place a memory on their bodies is not only fulfilling but great because of the beauty of the actual art.
> I apologise for going on a little too much, I have a portfolio with a range of drawings, and is constantly growing. But there are also books with college work, and other designs I have done. I am willing to do more and more drawings to prove my ability, and I am willing to go the lengths to prove myself. I would happily travel or scan the drawings to show you my ability.
> Thanks for your time.
> Tom.
>
>
> Since I last posted this, I have taken some photos of my work, there are more to come, thank you for your time.
